Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council hosted the Festive Fayre event on Sunday 4th December 2016; hundreds of people visited the town centre to take part in this ever popular community event.
There was plenty on offer with Christmas stalls selling a variety of wares along with local charities raising money for good causes. This year Stanier Square saw the addition of Santa’s grotto on the bandstand in its new location, with a never ending queue from the moment it opened to the close the event making sure that none of the young people were disappointed. Entertainment was provided by MKFM throughout the event with performances by local schools and groups.
The lantern parade was very well attended and focussed on individual lanterns this year. The turnout on the day was amazing with over 120 in the parade led by the fabulous Samba Band with their lights and drums. It culminated with Veronica; the nominated child, being driven to the stage by local motorbike group Tudor Rose Goldwings, meeting Santa and Cllr Angela Kennedy, Chair of the Council and Cllr Richard Graham, Vice-Chair of the Council before the countdown to switch on the lights.
The lights and tree looked wonderful with all the decorations coloured in by local school children and their individual wishes written on the reverse. St Andrews Choir led the festive carol singing round the tree to close the event.
Many local businesses, schools, groups and volunteers contributed or sponsored the event, not forgetting our very own Town Councillors who assisted on the day.
