Planning permission refused for former Travis Perkins site

Milton Keynes City Council (MKCC) has refused planning permission for the ‘Demolition of existing building supplies warehouse and construction of 103 residential units with associated parking and landscaping at 64 - 66 And 70 Simpson Road Bletchley MK1 1BA’ (Application no: 21/03766/FUL).

MKCC gave several reasons which led to their decision to refuse the planning application which we have summarised below:

  • the potential harm caused to nearby designated heritage assets
  • an absence of recommended additional assessments on the impact on biodiversity
  • an unacceptable level of overlooking and loss of privacy to occupiers of an existing dwelling
  • a completed Section 106 obligation had not been provided to mitigate against the impact of the development
  • loss of existing trees and landscaping and the lack of space to provide meaningful replacement soft landscaping
